Mammoth ivory can be worked quite easily despite its hardness and these natural colors vary from white to dark brown. The bone mammoth is a hard material that works relatively well and its natural colors vary from light brown to dark brown. The woolly mammoth molar is made of three different materials. The first is dentin, which is the dental material that most animals have. The second is enamel and the third layer is the cement which binds the other two together. The natural colors vary from light to dark and we find everything from creamy white to dark brown, the other colors more vivid are tinted to stabilization. The fossil molar is worked with diamond tools because of the very hard enamel layer.
